Thrivent Builds Home
On March 16, Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury broke ground on a home on North Frierson St. in Columbia, TN, initiating a new partnership to support local affordable housing efforts. Thrivent has awarded $70,000 to fund construction of the home and volunteers from local churches and businesses will help raise the walls of the home, starting April 24.
From the beginning of the Thrivent and Habitat partnership in 2005, Thrivent and its members have now contributed more than $240 million and more than 5.5 million volunteer hours across the U.S. and around the world. This has resulted in thousands of families and individuals obtaining strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, as well as strengthening hundreds of communities.
In 2018, Thrivent has committed over $12 million to support the partnership with Habitat. Thousands of Thrivent members and other volunteers will provide their hands and their hearts for construction and non-construction activities.

We are excited to welcome Aja Silvestri to our homeownership program.
In 2014, the City of Franklin conducted a housing needs analysis and found that 85% of workers commute to work at Franklin businesses. Aja Silvestri is one of those workers. She lives in Fayetteville, Tennessee, but drives 120 miles round trip each day to work to at our HFHWM ReStore.
“Words cannot express how grateful I am for this opportunity,” explains Aja. “As an expectant mother, the long hours in the car have been hard on my body. The sponsors of my home are not only blessing me with a home I can afford to buy, but also with the gift of time. The extra hours I would have spent commuting will now be spent with my daughter, who is due in July.”
