Thrivent Builds Home
This spring, Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury broke ground on a home on School Street in Columbia, TN, initiating a new partnership to support local affordable housing efforts. Thrivent has awarded $70,000 to fund construction of the home.
From the beginning of the Thrivent and Habitat partnership in 2005, Thrivent and its members have now contributed more than $240 million and more than 5.5 million volunteer hours across the U.S. and around the world. This has resulted in thousands of families and individuals obtaining strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, as well as strengthening hundreds of communities.

We are excited to welcome Sparkman family to our homeownership program.
LaTosha Sparkman works full-time at Currie Medical Supplies. She loves to read, cook, work out, but more importantly she loves to help others. LaTosha attends Locust Ridge Church and is an active member of the new members’ committee. Her daughter, Alayshia, loves to sing and is currently enrolled at Columbia State, studying to become a LPN. A’Donnious, her son, attends Centennial High School. He dreams of attending barber school and one day owning his own business.
“Habitat opens up doors for those that thought they would never have anything. I never thought in a million years that I would be out of public housing,” she notes. “Habitat has great people working with you, and they make you feel welcome. I know I couldn’t do this without them and my sponsors. Words can’t express how I feel. I am truly grateful!”
