Q: How long have you been involved with HFHWM and how has your involvement evolved over time?
A: “My journey first started in 2022, originally as the board intern, and has evolved to serving on the board full time and now as the Treasurer. ”
Q: What inspired you to join the board of HFHWM?
A: “I believe in the mission of Habitat and that everyone should have the right to a decent home.”
Q: Do you serve on any HFHWM committees?
A: “Yes. Finance and Marketing/Events”
Q: What do you believe sets Habitat for Humanity apart from other nonprofits?
A: “That it is a hand up, not a handout. That we are giving the tools to the homeowners to make not only changes in their lives but also the community around them."
Q: What skills or expertise do you bring to the Habitat board, and how have they been most impactful?
A: “I try to always look on the bright side of things!”
Q: Can you share a memorable moment from your time volunteering on a Habitat build?
A: “I unfortunately have not been to build but many dedications and each one is an experience that you have to be there in person to truly understand the magnitude of how impactful they are!”
Q: What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned from serving on the board?
A: “I think one of the biggest lessons I have learned is that there is such a need for more affordable housing and what got us here today will not necessarily get us to the future. That we are constantly needing to evolve.”
Q: What motivates you to stay involved with Habitat and other organizations in our community?
A: “I have always believed the whole saying that the more you get the more you give. Rather that be monetary or your time everything has an impact in today's world and I want to make sure that I am helping Habitat in any way I can!”
Q: What message would you share with someone considering volunteering or donating to Habitat?
A: “You are making more of an impact than you realize. That goes beyond just one person and you are helping not only change the lives of families but also the communities in which they live. Most importantly this is a hand up, not a handout.”
