“I prayed for a year to have a home”

One of our homeowners recently sent us a beautiful testimony about how their family dynamic has flourished since moving into their Habitat home. While they wish to remain anonymous, they encouraged us to share their experience and extend heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers, sponsors, and donors who made this possible.

This is Habitat’s impact in action.

“I had prayed for almost a year to have a home; a house for my children. Not just a concrete foundation. But a foundation of love, discipline, traditions, peace, security, joy, independence and so much more.

With that blessing came many others.

I prayed to be able to work from home. I now work from the comfort of my home.

I prayed to be able to homeschool my children. Now they are being homeschooled.

I prayed that this house would be used to glorify God. I am now able to sow into two charities monthly. Not much, but it’s a start.

I write this because as I looked out my kitchen window yesterday while prepping dinner, I saw my children jumping roping and playing basketball together. As a mother of 5, it's not easy for all your children to get along. I know they are tired of the Cain and Abel or Joseph story - I make them read those together when no one can get along. Since getting our home my children have grown closer together.  It's because you all blessed us with a home where my children can have their own rooms. Now they have their own space and privacy.

It's hard to explain but Thursdays are family nights, and the kids look forward to it now. They intentionally play together.  They intentionally help each other, do bible study together, and shop together. I know having their own room allowed that seed to grow. Their bonds have become stronger. They don't get on each other's nerves and there is less sibling bickering. It's just a blessing.

I never knew the impact having your own room would make. My son is able to play travel soccer, my daughter does gymnastics, and my middle daughter is in her second year of college at just 18. She got accepted into the vet program! And my grandchildren have a yard to play in.

I just want to say thank you! Thank you! I hope one day soon, I  can be a blessing and donate down payments for other families.  That's my goal- to pay it forward.

I am enjoying the windows open and my house smelling like cinnamon and fall this morning.

Thank you, Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury.”
