Sarah’s path to homeownership has been shaped by unexpected and life-altering changes, but through it all, she has emerged with resilience, strength, and an unwavering commitment to her family. Just over two years ago, Sarah’s life took a dramatic turn when she went from living a carefree life in a one-bedroom apartment in her late 20s to stepping up to care for her four nephews. In an instant, she became their primary guardian, moving back into her childhood home to give them the stability they desperately needed.
Taking on the role of guardian to Aiden (15), Princeton (12), Chandler (11), and Nickcolas "Junior" (9) brought about significant challenges, but it also ignited in Sarah a deep sense of purpose. These boys have become the center of her world, and everything she does is for them. From cheering them on at their football and basketball games to hosting family dinners and game nights, Sarah has fully embraced her role as their protector, provider, and biggest supporter. She has longed for a space where her nephews can grow, thrive, and become the best versions of themselves—a place that reflects the values of family, love, and perseverance that she holds dear.
In addition to her full-time job as a Human Resources Manager at Two Men and a Truck, Sarah is also pursuing her bachelor’s degree in special and elementary education at Western Governors University. Balancing work, school, and caring for four boys is no easy feat, but her determination knows no bounds. With a hunger for growth and learning, she is not only investing in her own future but also in the futures of her nephews. The skills she’s gaining through the Habitat Homeownership Program—budgeting, home maintenance, and financial planning—are empowering her to create a stable home where they can all flourish.
Despite the hardships and twists in her journey, Sarah’s heart is filled with love, hope, and an unshakable belief in the future she is building for her family.
